Burris Optics, good and bad…

I have owned about 4 of their scopes, and generally been satisfied. I did have one however, that fresh out of the box seemed pretty dim and dark. Comparing it to other scopes I owned at the time confirmed that it truly was not as clear as even a Tasco I had bumping around.

So, off to Burris it went, only to be returned with a slightly haughty note that it was within specs! Needless to say, it marched on down the road. But all the others I owned have been good, and I’m thinking of picking up one of their latest generation offerings because of the features it offers. My 2x Burris pistol scope is pretty nice, even if it hid in my stash for two years, quietly giggling while I raged over its location.

Good luck finding a compact scope these days. You might look into Konus or Sightmark, I have a 4x from each of those companies that are decent quality for the price. Actually brighter than the problematic Burris of 30+ years ago.

It’s always a crap shoot trying out lower priced glass. In my case I was able to see/try both of those before committing. Consider some of the 4x scopes made for archery IF the specifications will need your needs.
