Burris Optics

I've owned exactly ONE Burris scope in my life time. And that one came second hand. It was mounted to an old ranch rifle I picked up as a basket case and had "seen better days". The scope was a compact little 4X28 from back in the 60's or 70's, I believe, and had dust built up in the optic lens area which made it difficult to use. So I packed it up and sent it off to Burris for repair, they even sent me the label to do so. A while later they contacted me with the sad news "It's not repairable". This was followed by "We'll replace it, but this model is not in stock right now." and "We'll update you via email." Well, that was over a year ago so last week I updated the case online with an inquiry as to when they figured they might be turning out another 4X28 scope and they replied "We regret that your case fell through the cracks. We're giving you store credit toward one new scope from our current lineup." And then the next day I got an email from someone else apologizing for the delay and upping the initial offer by 50%! I'd been wanting another compact scope for the old rifle but none of the first level of scopes would fit that bill, most being in the much larger objective lens category, up into the 50+mm range. They do, however, have a 1-6 scope that is calibrated around the 223/5.56mm family of cartridges, and that's what the old rifle's chambered for. So I requested this one and mentioned I'd get busy looking into 30mm rings to mount it in. It turns out that they have a "tactical" mount for this scope and are sending it along with it! So now I'm back to looking for a 1" compact scope for the old rifle as it's got a 60's era one piece mount/rings setup that is not amenable to adapting a larger diameter scope or other rings. Anyway, I'm impressed with Burris and their "Lifetime No Questions Asked Warranty". I'll definitely be giving their scopes more attention in the future. And recommending them as a customer oriented enterprise.
