its a great place especially if you like boating, especially sailing. Fishing is great in the inlets, plus behind the outer banks. The ocean is a short drive as is the eastern shore of Virginia. Pleasant winter, hot humid summer, unless you are close to any water. There are lots of farms raising corn and soybeans, plus some tobacco. Hunting should be good if you can find a place to lease or know someone with land. The seafood is varied and wonderful too.
