A nice 7.72mm......

PTR91GI....latest version of their 91 with milspec chamber and match barrel....it has proven to shoot tar sealed GI ball without a hitch....about 2MOA hot...cold...clean...dirty....just like my old HK91 that was sold in a moment of madness 30 years ago....

The GI chambers are the same spec as the HK and do not have the widespread problems of the .308 chambered guns that ONLY would shoot .308 factory pack...no 7.62 ball...

The best shooting ammo so far is the German DAG ball...designed for of all things the HK91...it is pretty ammo...jewelery bright finish and nickle plated bullet...this round designed for shooting Russian soldiers...

The welds, fit and finish is at least as good as my old HK...the wood is a nice touch on the retro spacegun look....I would prefer the old style steel grip frame instead of the new poly "Navy" style but that the way it goes....

I think I will keep it....

CDNN has them on sale....the wood stock rifles are a grand....that is a fair deal...

If you need mags...let me know....I just bought 104 (thats right 104) used German HK91 mags for less than a dollar each....thought that was a decent deal....

Dang! One hundred and four magazines? You are my preparation hero!

I thought I was cool 'cause I have about 40 AR mags, 20 AK mags, and 14 or so M14 mags. Guess I need to pick up the pace!

Otony

BTW, I love the rifle too! If I didn't have the M1A and the Saiga .308, I would have seriously considered one of those. I should post pics of the Saiga, it has been converted into a little tiger!

I sorted through 20 or 30 of them and while they show some use...all so far are good to go....

that they would not fix my gun. Glad yours is working mine did great with commercial .308 but was a jam-a-matic with mil spec ammo.
You might be able to pick up an older CETME for the steal grip frame.

Byron, could you get in trouble for putting that trigger group on your rifle? It looks like it has a full auto position on the fire selector.

Tru-dat!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

by Byron, Tuesday, May 01, 2012, 19:04 (4386 days ago) @ AkRay

There is a block on the semi-auto rifles that prevent installing the full auto lower.

These lowers are somehow "pinned and clipped" is some way the is cool with ATF....

Anyway...more trouble than it is worth....

My old FAL had a full auto selector setting. It did nothing different than the thesemi position but it looked cool! Didn't even think about possible troubles with ATF back then...

Thank you Sir,:-D

What's the scope on that one?

by Slow Hand ⌂ @, Indiana, Tuesday, May 01, 2012, 20:30 (4386 days ago) @ Byron

I've become a big fan of low power scopes for 'assault rifles'. Both of my AR's currently have 1.5-5x scopes. As does the little Savage bolt action I converted to .300 BLK.
