The M262 style round takes the little round to a completely new level of performance. If you havent shot some, you should.

I'm told by the Recon and 11 Bravo kids that my son and his friends hang with that it gets the job done even in short barreled guns.

Get some!

Interesting, thanks!

To shoot that at least 1/8 rifling is needed

Unfortunately, most commercial barrels are 1/9 (good enough for M855 green tip) and the 1/8 barrels out there are quite spendy since they're usually match quality.

If you can find .mil 1/7 barrels, you can't go wrong....if.

BTW, the 262 load from Black Hills made the M4 into quite the killing machine. Next time anyone sees Jeff Hoffman, shake his hand.

1/8 rifling is needed....kinda...sorta....

This is the bullet I use to load to (close to) M262 spec....

Without crimped in primers it is difficult to reach the real deal power factor without pressure problems....still you can get real close with Varget.....fyi...the boxer primed steel Wolf 5.56mm cases allow a higher safe pressure...they will never pop a primer...just reload them once....they work like a charm...

SOME 1/9" twist barrels will stabilize this bullet....some won't....

I am told there is a tolerence in spin and some 1/9 barrels are like 1/8.5" or so.....

Anyway some 1/9 barrels will work....just have to try....probably like the old 1/14" twist in the early A1s not stabilizing M196 ball in real cold weather...

Been meaning to ask are you reloading berdan primed Wolf?

I've read several reports like that

by Miles, Thursday, April 26, 2012, 19:14 (4388 days ago) @ Byron

Some barrels shot well. Some shot shotgun patterns, and some shot keyholes.

I'll agree with the surmise of 'twist tolerance'.

Hate to have to be at the mercy of fate and destiny. I just get my hands on 1/7 barrels and drive on for heavy bullets.
