3" .327

Newest flyer from CDNN shows a 3" taurus model 85 (J frame size) in .327. I don't know why, but I think this would be a fun little popper and good for a hinting vest pocket. Price is reasonable at $250 but the thing is ported which takes some of the fun out of it. This may be a stupid question but would it be possible to plug the ports? I know it's possible but would it cause problems? I'm thinking of tapping the ports and putting set screws in the holes. Lok tite them in so they wouldn't creep in or out. Do you guys think the open ports in the bore would catch too much metal and cause accuracy issues?

why do they port the barrels ? I tried their 357M and it did not shoot worth a hoot with cast but was great with jacketed. I dumped it and will not buy another.

They have made a 2" .45 acp and Colt five shot for awhile with porting. If they would make it with a 3" non ported barrel, I'd probably have a couple!

I have the 431 3" Taurus 44 spl. It's a great shooter, I've plinked with it out to 250, 300 yards or so and it did its part if I did mine. The ports would be a deal breaker for me. Just can't see how they'd help in a 327 mag, especially with that short a barrel.
They help with my 3" M-60 .357 and my 2" 445 45 Colt

I just don't like the idea of the blast coming up towards my eyes if I were to be using these guns in close. I have a couple magna ported rifles a 375 Weatherby Mag and a .338 win mag both came that way used for very reasonable prices and both are more comfortable to shoot than my other rifles in 375 H&H and 338 win.

If you shoot it enough with WW CB's
the ports will fill up with lead eventually. I had this happen to a 4" vented DW in 41M....had helluve time getting the barrel off and them ports cleaned out.
There you go Doug: just shoot lots of cast bullitts, the
ports will close up until they blow up acting as a projectile...

If you look around some, you can find an SP101 .32 H&R with a 4 inch barrel. I konw it's not quite a .327, but it's a pretty nice little revolver (I have one) and I'm not too sure I'd want anything louder in something with a barrel that's even shorter. At least not as a woods gun, since I'm generally not wearing ear protection when I'm just walking around.

When did they make those ?? Its heavy and stainless & 8 shot.
