So, I was watching Yukon Men last night...
And the one character took his AR after a "big" black bear. I think it would work with enough bullets but...
The big thing was moving the log house 4 miles. Neighbors helping neighbors do hard work. They don't focus on that part of it, but it is pretty cool. I liked the chainsaw winch. I should get me one. Don't know what I'd use it for but it is neat. They also used a hi-jack to pry apart a log addition. Neat use of fiberglass batting in the chinking. That particular house had a basement. I had thought that basements would be or could be problematic in permafrost (which the basement might negatively impact.

Not the first time 5.56 was used for black or brown or polar
bear "hunting" or defense, in AK.

I would still rather have my Marlin
The Ruger Gunsite .308 would suffice as well.
I once attende an NCO course with a fellow who said he
used a .22 Hornet for everything, seals, caribou, bears, everything! Claimed it was the best caliber ever.

I read somewhere that the Eskimos thought the .22 WMR was more than enough gun for what ever they were hunting whether it be rabbit or bear.
I know a couple of fellas here'bouts that like the .22 WRFM
and use it in the same way. They do switch to solids or HPs as they deem appropriate. They don't talk much about it in certain circles either. It is ILLEGAL here.
