Ruger SA convertables

Has anyone else bought a Ruger SA convertable (Blackhawk, Vaquero, New Vaquero) in order to shoot BIG .45 Colt loads . . .
. . . and found that over time the .45ACP cylinder gets more and more use?
My ACP cylinder has always shot just a bit better, and as time goes by I find that it does about all I need the gun to do.
Bob.
I've never bought a convertible

I have shot some of the BIG .45Colt loads and they are very interesting, but I'm sure that most of my shooting would be in the lower powered loads pretty close to the .45ACP ballpark. If I had the other cylinder I might use it more than the .45Colt cylinder. Similarly I'm sure most people with .44mags shoot more loads from them in the .44special range.
Ruger SA convertable: 9mm cyl gathers dust, 45ACP is used!

I find the 45ACP cylinder is in the new flat top convertible fram e most of the time.
When hunting or fishing in areas were bears are an issue the 45 Colt is pressed into service.
I'm not yet loading 45ACP yet but I'm shopping for a set of carbide dies ; )
I use my ACP cylinders more in my Old BH & VAq

as I have thousands of rounds of ACP brass and merely hundreds of rounds of 45 Colt brass. I just received notice that my S%W MG 45 Colt cylinder is on it's way back from TK Customs after getting tooled to accept 45ACO and 45 Colt.

I can easily foresee .45 Colt becoming primarily a rifle cartridge for you.
With the long guns you currently own, a .45-70 would be absolutely superfluous to your needs. I also bet you wouldn't turn one down if one was offered. :D

Guess I'm the odd ball - I shoot a lot of 45 Colt and what

45 ACP I did try in my OM Ruger's I was not satisfied with. I just have not played around with the ACP cylinders much. I have a lot of both cases so ACP goes in the semi-auto's and Colt in the Rugers.

My .45 ACP cylinder is cleaned biannually and rests in a box all other times. It just came with the revolver, seemed like a good idea, but has yet to serve a purpose. Hey, maybe a pencil holder or something.... ?

This one has mostly seen 45 Colt loads. Extremely accurate. Have used the ACP cylinder a few times but always go back to the 45 Colt. Have a huge supply of ACP brass and some day will get dies and go to work. Had to ream the 45 Colt cylinder and I know the ACP is tight also so will have to remedy that for cast.
I reamed my .45 Colt cylinder . . . but the ACP cylinder . .

. . . still shoots a bit better . . . even with cast. Go figure.

I am a big fan of 45 ACP sixguns having owned a half dozen Smith and Wesson DAs, three Colts DAs, 4 Ruger 45 Colt/45 ACP convertiables and a USAF 45 Colt with a spare 45 ACP cylinder.
The ACP cylinders in my Rugers get lots of use...lots of use.

Yup, got two OM .45s, but just one is a convertible. The previous owner never used the .45 ACP cylinder during the 11 years he owned it.
I tried it for a lark and left it in. That was a couple of years ago. I shoot .45 Colts out of the other (plus my Vaqueros).
