Suggestions for your Kindle Kar reading.
"The Gates of the Alamo" Stephen Harrigan.
"Borderland" Edwin Shrake.
Both are historical fiction by current Texas authors. Both weave real people and events into good stories with their characters. FWIW, Shrake is a randy old buzzard, and his book has a few "R" moments.

The granny said absolutely not, crash and burn. All troops mobilized for a two-week blitz to find a hat with a rabbit in it, or it's back to the border, the wrong border.
