Reflex sights

I have had some vision change problems this past year, and I'm having trouble seeing iron sights. I'm seriously considering putting reflex sights on a few of my handguns.
I know "scopes do not belong on handguns" but if I'm going to continue to shoot, I need to do something.
That said, I've looked at the Burris, Docter and Leupold Deltapoint. Of the three the Leupold seems the best, waterproof, smallest and unfortunately the most expensive at $450.
Has anyone given the reflex sights a workout on a handgun and how well does it work overall?

I like the concept but FOR ME the execution doesn't work. I have color deficient sight and can't see some colors (like RED) against some other colors (such as green, brown, black, blue) even though I can see red. Most all the reflex and red-dot sights are problematic for me. The Trijicon sights are great for some but not for me. The old duplex reticle seems to work best.

If you can, try the sight out on a gun, in actual shooting conditions. I know if I had such a sight and a friend asked to try it I'd be happy to oblige.

Try B-Square mounts with a weaver rail, then a picatinny mount for the MRDS (Yeah, I know kinda pricey adding in the mounts).

It may be your only option unless you can find a mount that will take a DOCTER sight, which the MRDS also fits.
