Buy 'em both!
I followed this advice today. Last night I texted the owner of a SOCOM II and offered a price that I was comfortable with for the gun that he's been trying to sell for the past 2 or 3 weeks. I didn't get an answer back from him so I forgot about it and went around and got some things done. I had the muffler and tailpipe repaired on my truck this morning, and came home when that was done. I checked the same site the SOCOM was on and noticed that someone had a Ruger Gunsite Scout for sale. This is the third or fourth one I've noticed for sale, but this one had the best price so far. I gave the guy a call and he was in the mood to sell, and he came down from his price even more, so I went out to meet him. While I was waiting for him to arrive, I checked my cell phone again and noticed a text from the SOCOM owner. I texted back and he answered, so I arranged to meet him a short while later.
The guy with the Ruger showed up and his gun was everything it was supposed to be, ANIB with everything that came with it from the factory so I bought it. I then went to meet the SOCOM II seller and liked what I saw so I bought his rifle too. I stopped and shot the SOCOM on the way home and it is a nice rifle! I only shot 20 rds, but it worked flawlessly. It's got rails all over the front end, but I took the bottom one off, which cleaned it up a lot. I even have a couple ammo cans of 7.62x51mm, so I'm good for ammo for a while. I told my fellow gun nut friend Pete about them, and he's already trying to get me to sell the Ruger Scout rifle to him. I don't do this very often, but I'm glad both deals came together, and it was fun to be able to drive around and buy a couple of cool guns.

It was fun to read about it too! Thanks for sharing.
Sounds like a good day, two you are happy with - Enjoy !!
The Ruger interests me too, let us know how it does.
A couple nice rifles to have around. Stock up on 7.62x51
NOW, it will dry up again I am sure. I have had excellent results with the Silver Bear 150 grain stuff in my CETMEs and FN/FAL and bolt guns. Even the finicky PTR-91 liked it. Ruger is making a 3 5 and 10 round plastic magazines now. and if you need help locating M-14 mags, let me know.

Love the scouts!
I had a norinco m14 chopped down and kick
Myself for not keepin it. It was a powerhouse!
I'm too cheap to get one Of the Rogers but I have built a couple of scouts. One I just finished up was nought cheap as a rebarreled VZ24 Mauser with a .308 barrel, Bold adjustable trigger, low scope safety and a new jolt handle welded on low. I put a forward scope mount on it, cut the barrel to 17", cleaned ip the stock and painted it OD green and alimahyded the metal. I had it up for sale but after shooting it Friday I may just keep it around. Points very well with the old weaver 1.5-4.5x scope. If it stays around I'll figure out some iron sights for it.

Hey Rob. What kind of prices can you get on mags? I'd like some 20 rd mags if that's possible. I agree about the ammo too. I'll have to keep my eyes open for more.
just located 4 Milsurp 42 bucks per from Bucky O'Neil Guns
Not sure if that the best price or not. But Jim Marnell will hold them for you, if you say the word.
