There's something about the good ol' SAA that other similar arms lack. And the 7 1/2" barrel is the cherry on top. Someday, perhaps, I'll finally get my grubby mitts on one, although I've set my sights on the 38 spl (because I'm weird that way) but will probably end up settling for a 357 mag. I've never owned a 357, so this would be a good place to start I guess. I've been trying to pin down WHY the SAA profile elicits such a visceral reaction every since Miles posted that image, and I really can't pin it down. It just "looks right" somehow.

there is just "something" about a Colt. I don't know the "why" of it. Probably has to do with old westerns I watched and history I read and old-timers that I talked with. Most likely it more emotional and mental than anything. The Old Model .357 Ruger Flattop is a much better gun and I really like mine. It's the same size as a Colt and Colt stocks fit the gripframe. I would not get rid of it. But it ain't a Colt.

It doesn't make sense but that's the way of it with me.
