I don't much care for these games but I do see the benefit of the thought process. Problem is, the things I have--nearly all of them--are things I like or find 'neat' rather than need. What good is an old Vetterli in any sort of scenario that might require me to give up something? That said, I'm not going to give that one up because I like it. Much the same can be said about the rest of The Pile.

Depending on what brought us to this, I would have to get practical. Choose redundant arms which take common cartridges...9mm's, .308's 12 ga. etc. I suppose it could be done with say a dozen assorted arms. Then I'll have to let Melodie choose what she wants.

first, we gotta define "A FEW". My definition, a few equals more than a couple less than half a dozen. Five chosen from available inventory. Single Ten .22 lr., Sig P320 40 S&W, Russian/Remington 12 ga. semi-auto 3-1/2" 3" 2-3/4, Ted Williams (mod.70) 30-06, FA 454.

But upon due reflection, I realized that would probably be “gaming” the system, at least for the parameters of the question.

Ah yes...the only if I could have game, which is hard to play but as we all do I started thinking about it, first thing that came to mind was my list would be different then it would have been 10 or 20 years ago.

As I have gotten older I realized I ain't running around the woods chasing things that can kill me nor hunting in Alaska etc anymore. So I don't need a big cannon like my 416 Ruger Alaskan, love that rifle but I really don't need it. 41 Magnum my favorite cartridge, sad to say but I really don't need it and sure as hell don't like the recoil anymore. 20 years ago my list would be filled with big bores and 41 Mags, which at that time I would chuckle when someone on the broad would list mostly 22's and a 12 ga on their list, now I kinda agree.

LCP. Has been here decades, never jams, shoots to sights

Taurus 617T- (2" seven shot 357, 23 oz loaded) after turning the barrel a hair, fixed sights dead on to 50 yards. Does everything you could ask of a short 38/357, head-shoots snakes-squirrels etc

Glock 21- groups like a good 1911, handles any 45 load to 275 grains. Drops brass in a pile 5-6 feet behind you.

Henry H001 22 rifle- stays loaded with CB shorts, kills more nuisance critters than highway traffic.

CZ-712 Utility, 20" 12 ga Auto w/chokes. Excellent, weatherproof field gun.

AR10 308 18" or a 20" bolt action but it must have IRONS

I have a great shooting Anderson M4gery, loves MK262 and I could make do with that.
