For some odd reason the above mentioned pistola popped into my brain today. Does anyone build such a critter any more? A quick look at Cimarron and Taylor produced "out of stock" and the Gun Genie doesn't list 44 Spl as an option for single action resolvers. I pretty much gave up on ever finding a SAA clone in 38 Spl ("everyone" seems to prefer the 357 Magnum), but am surprised no one seems to have the 44 Spl option any more.

Cimarron offers their Model P in SAA and Bisley style in .44 Special. Just go to Cimarron website and search on .44 Special.
Thanks!

I was over there before making my post here. "Out of Stock" was the label for the 5 1/2" 44 Spl's.

WOW!!! 3 grand for a USFA 38 spec. A $200 pawn shop purchase 25 years ago. Mine is a mat black Rodeo, so probably not as pricey. I carry it with 158 HBWC and 38 super.
The Rodeo's bring a lot more than you would think!

$2000.00 or better. I passed one up a couple years back for around 1K and have kicked myself ever since.

of picking up a USFA - and then they went Zip Gun on us and prices went through the roof. It's amazing to see that some of those USFA guns go for way more than many Colt's.

Another option is buy a Uberti in 44/40 and an extra cylinder in .44 Special. I went this route and fitting the .44 Spl cylinder was not very difficult. Cimarron seems to have the best prices on cylinders and any Uberti parts. Just a thought.
If the link works.....

and is not timed-out for its specificity then there a few out there for just under $600. However, most of the search results are the open-topped 1872 conversion replica. Look closely for the model "p" for examples closer to the SAA design.

If the link doesn't work then the keywords "cimarron" and ".44 special" on any firearms themed search engine will get you there.
Huh!

Y'all come up with some interesting options. I'd never have thought of Ammo Seek for SAA's. You're right about the open tops. Scads of them. But there's an almost affordable Cimarron P model, not too far down the list. Now to get something sold and head north to see about picking one up... Appreciate the tip on the search engine.
Here you go.

That's a source I'd not thought of. Dixie, to MY mind, is old fashioned muzzle loaders. Hadn't thought of checking them in ages. And that Uberti is closer to almost affordable than some of the options out there. My brain is still stuck on $150 S&W model 10's and $1/hundred primers. These 21st Century prices are stickershock fodder for sure!
Thanks, Bob!

The Pragmatist in me says to buy one of those 9mm Uberti single action sixguns. I figure using M-1152 ammo I keep which is +P+ would make it a neat shooter as accurate and powerful as that stuff is. Tons of all kinds of 9mm ammo available at all stores. But the traditionalist in me seems to win out every time I look at one.

I picked up a Uberti 5.5” 44 Speical a while back. I would post a picture but I don’t know how on this site. They are out there you just have to sneak up on them.
