Installation went without a hitch.
I half expected to shoot the locking bolt and spring across the room but managed to retain it. The cross pin was a bit fiddly but finally yielded to my efforts. The trigger pull is harder than expected but I haven't pulled the side plate to see if there's 100+ years of gunk hiding in the nooks. It's complete now and I'll probably take it up north to the cabin to see if it goes bang.
