Shooting the .44 Special and .45 Colt this afternoon

by JimT, Texas, Wednesday, November 05, 2025, 17:37 (4 days ago)

with the bullets I cast and loaded earlier. I wanted to see how they performed and what they felt like to fire. I was surprised. The .44 was snappier than I expected. It was not heavy recoil and they were pleasant to shoot. The .45 was hotter than I thought it would be also.

My shooting was not that great. And the accuracy was OK, nothing to write home about. Certainly not in the same camp as the .41 I was shooting a few days ago.

The .44 Special was more accurate than the .45 Colt. The USFA obviously is a higher quality gun with tighter tolerances.

I fired 50 rounds with each pistol

I am going to shoot some groups with the Keith SWC in each caliber also, just to reference them.

It was all fun!
