Forcing Cone

On this day 2019 I decided to recut the forcing cone on my Liberty 45. Did it make a difference in the way it shot? Not that I could tell but it sure looked good.

Same here, bought the Brownells kit for my 41 Magnum Blackhawk, shot good but forcing cone was a little rough, used the kit very carefully, looked nice afterwards, did it shoot better, not that I could tell with open sights, hit what I needed to shoot, couldn't ask for more :-)

I don't recall the year, but I picked up a Taylor Throating Reamer from Bronells and brought it back down here. The PPPPPP was slightly out of time, locking up just a bit out of whack. It leaded something fierce on the left side of the forcing cone where the bullets would shave off as they left the cylinder and entered the barrel. After carefully reaming the throad/forcing cone, it not only looked good, it no longer leaded and was easier to clean. As they say, one's mileage may vary. Another factor is, doing such a job gives one a sense of satisfaction. :-)

No forcing cone work on my 45 Blackhawk, but I did send it to a guy on here about 20 years ago to have the cylinder throats evened up. That was all the rage back in the day with 45's. Seems it was either "Cas" or "Uncowboy" that did the work but cannot remember.

Glen Castro up in NY state was the cylinder smith. He shut it down a few years ago. If I had a cylinder I wanted done today, I'd contact Fermin Garza. Besides top quality sights, he also does truing up of cylinder chambers.
