Rosewood .. by Paul Persinger
He said they were "plain jane" stocks but I think they fit well with the old gun.

Wood Grading is one of those arts ...

That is very forgiving - i.e., the grader either grades low or high - you always want the guys who grade low. Those look great because they have a very distinct grain pattern that shows up really well - but some guy called them "plain Jane" because the grain is fairly straight and parallel. Apparently that only gets you a "standard" or "fancy" grade.
Kinda like being a meteorologist. What other profession can you be worng over 80% of the time and not get fired. Lots of subjectivity.
Good looking grips for sure.

I would rate prophecy preachers a bit worse than weathermen.

I don't think they hit 10% most of the time, yet they seem to sell books and DVD's by the truckload.

Made from a chunk of Madrone I had laying around…

Zane Thompson made these for me from some Madrone that I had been saving for at least 15 years, maybe longer.
Somewhere I have a picture of them on my New Vaquero.44 Special, I will see if I can dig it out. I installed a Super Blackhawk hammer on it, and cut away most of the webbing inside the grip frame to shift the balance forward a smidge. I’ve got pictures of the frame in process, guess I need to drag those out as well.

They look great on it.

Grips that are too figured look wrong on a working gun most of the time .
