A neighbour.....

circa 1982-1983 had a 6" D.W. and it was quite accurate in his hands. Not long-range wise but very small object plinking at 15-20 paces such as spent shotgun hulls and those four-sided kodak flash cubes down to bottle caps. He would even hold it upside down and pull the trigger with a pinky finger.

a hunting/fishing "uncle" some 9 years my senior had a 4".

I got to fire both of the above a few times with both .38s and magnums.

A pastor family friend and ardent gun collector had the so-called "pistol pack" with barrels 2.5" to 8" complete with hard case and 3 grip handles and nut wrench and feeler gauge. We got to handle that one but not fire it as he liked to collect presumably unfired examples.
