Fireforming .32-20's

I picked up a bunch of ".25-20's" from a guy a while back. He was candid that some were necked down .32-20's and I was OK with that. Come to find out the necked down ones won't reliably chamber in my rifles ('94 Marlin and Husky bolt). I did not investigate too deeply but I suppose the neck is too thick. Anyway, I think the most reliable way to restore them to .32-20 is to fireform with some corn meal and a wad of TP, Question is: What charge of BE? I'm thinking in the 2-3 grains neighborhood. Whadya think?

Thanks!

2 gr. might be a little light but 3 gr. should do it. 32-20 are a little on the thin side so definitely on the right track.

Thanks. I was leaning towards 3 but didn't want to get crazy(er).

I use Cream'O'Wheat for BP blanks and fire forming. Packs a little tighter than cornmeal. Coincidently I too have been shooting my Uberti 32-20 Bisley SAA and BF single shot lately.[image][image]

Like that Bisley!

The BFA would be interesting to play with as well. My .32-20's are a Ruger Buckeye, a pre-war K-frame Smith and a Husqvarna single shot bolt rifle.
