Sighting In the Shootists Anniversary Levergun

I shot a few of my Heavy .45 Colt loads with the 300 gr. bullet. Recoil is quick and hard .. like the .44 Magnum .. and hurts. I am not interested in getting beat up. I just want to have fun with the rifle and enjoy it. Sticking with the 800 to 900 fps loads.

It definitely seems to be doing well. Have you tried the Lyman 454190 bullet in it yet? I'm trying to remember what I've got in the cache and that's the only mold in there for the 45 Colt that I recall. I've got a decent stash of San Juan Bullet Company (if I recall the name correctly) 300 gr slugs, but we'll just have to wait and see what comes to the top once I get back up there. These definity show a lot of promise!
I only had 10 loaded ... I have bullets but no time....

heading out for a Family Reunion in Oregon in a couple days. I will load some more and shoot them when I can. They functioned well and shot about the same as the bullets that I have already fired. But it will be a while. Five days after I get back I am leaving again for The Shootists Holiday. Spending more time traveling this year already than I did over the past 5 years!

Safe travels! If you run into Caz along the way, give him by best regards.
Sure will. I am hoping he will be there. (nt)

Looks good! If you have any interest in trying out an even lighter load, I’d be happy to send you some 200gr RNFP’s from a Lee mold.
Thank you! They might be fun to try.

I have some molds for the .45 ACP that might work also. I will get back to you later on. I am not going to be home for the next 3 weeks or so.

mostly because I had half a box sitting there. Of course they fed and fired just fine. I used them mostly to acquaint Melodie (I helped!) with the rifle. Not that the 8.5gr. Unique load was all that strenuous.
