"If it shoots well, why even think of rebarreling it?"
Well, I'll tell you why.
Mainly it just doesn't look right to me. This is a classic European stalking rifle, and I want it to be set up properly with the caliber stamped on the receiver, and a proper tapered barrel contour.
Imagine you inherited a Jaguar XK120 with a lift kit and ladder bars like you might have seen once upon a time on a '72 Duster... that's what it looks like to me now. I'm really just a steward of this rifle and I will eventually pass it on to someone else. In the mean time if I have the chance to make it right, I will.
