Hey Gunner!
I used my calipers to measure the barrel on the new Marlin Trapper and compared it to our 1894 .44 Magnum Carbine.
At the muzzle in front of the front sight, the Trapper barrel is a bit smaller than the .44 Carbine. At the forend cap the Trapper barrel is a bit larger than the Carbine.

Hey Gunner!
Interesting.....I guess it looks much big due to the short length.

I think so.
Laying them side by side I thought the Trapper was larger at the muzzle than the Carbine.
An "Optical Dilusion" ...

One thing for sure ...
the Carbine is 47 years old and is SMOOTH. Gonna be some time before the Trapper runs like that .. though I will help it out before 47 years goes by. LOL

I need my Marlin 41 Mag out, been a bit since I shot it. Years ago in a fit of foolishness I sold my Marlin Cowboy 41 Mag with Octagon barrel, wished I hadn't
Maybe the new Marlin company will offer a 41 Mag version soon, wouldn't mind a trapper version with an optical Dilusion barrel

I saw my old Marlin .41 Magnum levergun at CSA!
Tom even let me hold it for a minute.
He was keeping a close eye on me!
