Not to mention cranes and nigh-on pterodactyl sized herons.

All are fish eaters and along with the turtles and otters, our fishies have gotten scarce. Problem is, only the turtles are open season. All the rest seem to be adamantly protected by the opossum & carp constables. Seems like they ought to be liable to replace the fishes by restocking if we're not allowed to defend them.

But then again, too few to mention..

One of the rusty old steel muskrat traps I set in the shallow water of my pond some years ago to catch the snapping turtles that were dining on my $3 apiece bass fingerlings somehow managed, quite by accident, to snag the big heron that was getting even more of them. Oh well......
