Things Aaron does when he gets bored
"What," I can hear you saying "...in the blue blazes is THIS?!?"
It's a 1952-vintage Polish-made M44 Mosin-Nagant complete with folding bayonet, fitted with a first-generation Bushnell red-dot sight on a scope mount from jmeckscopemounts.com.
In my defense, I was left unsupervised and the carbine was just SITTING THERE. Also, I'm hoping that this will enable my aging eyes to still work okay with this little old Pole.
If the rain lets up today I might see if I can get this puppy dialed in.

That should work! An easy way to put a sight on a Mosin. Let us know how it works when you get to try it out.

Looks good, beats a hose clamp
Things we have to do as we get older to be able to shoot guns.

That series of red dots from Bushnell has proven to be a solid performer. Battery life doesn’t compare to newer electronics on the market but that is to be expected.
Very nice setup, btw. The Mosin carbines have been a favorite of mine since the late ‘90s. I can run them left-handed pretty easily because of that big bolt handle.

Turns out, it doesn’t shoot too bad.
The carbine is minute-of-whitetail at New England hunting distances… two inch groups at 50 yards, suitable for a truck gun more or less.
My son shot it in while I was working. He said it was loud enough to make his ears ring even with muffs on, and the fireball was gi-normous.
As one would expect.
I predict more playing around this weekend or so.
