H4227 Discontinued??

by E Sisk, Tuesday, November 26, 2024, 06:38 (34 days ago)

Double checking load data as always prior to loading a few 480 Ruger. Hodgdon Data shows H4227 as discontinued. When did that happen? I also just learned that I can survive the TEOTWAWKI apocalypse with an Altoids tin filled with geegaws.

That is disappointing news.

I don't use much but it is on the short list for a few things.

That is disappointing news.

When I knew a fair many folks who shot .22 Hornet, it was THE powder.

That is disappointing news.

4227 is my go to powder for the 44 magnum for rifle and revolver hunting loads. Luckily I have ten pounds or so on hand. I also shoot H110 so I think I may have enough to get me by until I choose a replacement. We are blessed with lots of choices in this country. One more thing to be thankful for.

Is IMR4227 the same?
