Another way to skin the cat

….well, just to put things in a bit of perspective.

We are moving to the beach (finally). Our house is being built to include a temperature and humidity controlled Secret Squirrel Cave. My intention is to keep my collection sequestered there, unbeknownst to the neighbors.

However, I want to have three firearms available at all times to repel boarders. My EDC, a well worn Smiff 642. A Glock 48, which is my primary carry whenever I leave town. And finally, the 590A1 which has a factory Marinecote finish to assist in delaying the ravages of our coastal environment. Those three will live quietly in the house and/or my pockets and belt.

It seems that Mossberg is on some sort of agenda to take all of their “basic” models and add one bit or another of “tactical fluff”, I think so that they can justify their fairly significant post Covid price increases. So they added a M-Lok forend to my otherwise traditional riot gun, if we overlook the Silver Surfer pajamas.

It may be wishful thinking on my part, but I want to stay below the radar when we relocate to Oregon. So no more firearm purchases. I know, I know, probably not too realistic on my part, but I’ve never bought a firearm in that state, even though I’ve lived but ten minutes from the state line these past 16 years. Thus far then, I am not on their radar.

I figure if I stay off the state’s computers, there is nothing for the powers to be to link me to firearms ownership. Oh, if I were to get jiggidy with one of the aforementioned trio of blasters, I’m certain the resulting deep dive into my particulars would reveal all post haste, but until then it is mums the word.

All of which is complicated by wanting to still be able to carry concealed legally. Which throws the whole Batman scheme out the window. A conundrum to be sure….
