.270 Winchester - The Standard Load (130 grains)

Father of a high school friend was one of the most successful whitetail hunters I've ever seen. Did his limit for years, about every year. I ran into Jack at least once a year until he passed around 2010/2012.

He had a pawnshop Remington 720, some manner of 4x scope, and used discount store Remington 130 grain, the sort they put on sale in late October. He was a well to do man with very basic tastes.

He hunted only 1 place on private property, shot the rifle enough to stay an OK/decent shot, and picked his shots carefully. He was more of a hunter than shooter. I followed his deer exploits from the the '70s on.

Uh, it was a common enough Remington 721. The 720s are outlandishly scarce. My mistake.
