Weird barrel lengths on Ruger 1894s.....

Recently looking at the Ruger Marlin 1894 rifles, hoping for a 41 Mag version soon, and noticed something.......357 Mag has a barrel length of 18.63" while the 44 Mag has a 20.25" long barrel.
Anyone know why the difference? Did Marlin do the same thing? Never noticed anything other than 16' trapper or 20" standard length on Marlin 1894 rifles. I would assume it has to do with balance of rifle or ballistics of said cartridges.

The Marlin 1894C in 357 was always a 18.5” barrel. I haven’t put a tape on it to see if it is exactly. They offered 16.25 in both 357 and 44 magnum. The standard 1894 in 44 magnum was a 20” back then.

Yep, I have one of the Model 336 24" 38-55 Win., just never noticed the true barrels on the 1894's.
