New Front Sight For The 1862 Pocket Police
I love shooting the 1862 Police .36 but that little tiny bead on the front is ridiculous for old eyes and especially in bright sunlight. Plus it hit a foot high at 20 - 25 yards. It had to go!
So this morning I got out my tools and went to work.
Cutting the dovetail ..
I had bought a Hawken sight blank from Dixie Gun Works. I shaped the sight somewhat before I started the dovetail
I cut the 'ears' off the sight and filed it down a little.
Now this is a sight I can see!
I will sight the gun in .. I am sure the sight is too tall .. shape and polish and blue it once it's sighted.
(I just now .. hours after posting .. realized I boogered up the title of the post!)
