Host of today's shooting has a nice example of the type. Does it require a proprietary stripper clip to load the magazine, or is there something like an '03 stripper or such which works?

Not 100% familiar with the .300, but I know the .35’s use a special and very expensive stripper. I bought some 3d printed ones that in practice seem to work well. I haven’t had them out to the range yet, but loading it at home is basically the same as loading it at the range or in the field.

I never tried it but I would bet if you put a couple of bumps near the middle of each ‘skinny’ side to keep it from pushing down into the mag well, most any Mauser or USGI stripper would work.

Require? I wouldn't think.

Don't think so, just optional? My 8 .32Rem sure don't require em.
