I don't shoot rifle much and am not a good rifleman .. but
the Ruger American .22 Magnum makes me look good!
I traded into a new Ruger American a few years ago. Nice rifle. I stuck a scope on it and whacked the barrel off to 16.5" since the .22 Magnum gets most of its velocity in about 12 inches.
On the Range it was surprising right from the get-go.
I need to take this gun to Arizona and shoot ground squirrels!

Nice!
I have only shot the .22LR and it wasn't mine but it did very well. The 3 CF Americans we have here shoot stupidly well for their price point.
Now you've got me thinking about the couple of .22 Mags here....
The closest I've got to that...
is Paco's old Savage pifle that I was given way back the first Holiday I attended. Need to get a decent scope for it. The 22 WMR has a lot going for it, that's for sure. Can't remember what the length is on that barrel (on the Savage), never have tried it on anything but paper, but that scope I've got just isn't up to the task.
I don't shoot rifle much and am not a good rifleman .. but
Nice shootin' Jim, always wanted a good 22LR bolt gun, mainly due to shooting a Remington 513T in my early 20's, big ole single shot made an impression on me.

I have the threaded 22 LR version with iron sights. It is a great shooting little rifle and I got the trigger down to about 1 1/4 lbs which really helps.
A magnum version would be really useful.

I have the threaded compact versions in 22 and 22 mag. Both shoot pretty well.
