I took the old H&R to the Range today.

I shot Long Range with it. TWENTY FEET!! I used the .375" Round Ball ... the Bear Creek 96 gr. cast bullet and the Bear Creek 124 gr. cast 9mm bullet. All shots were offhand.

96 gr. Bear Creek bullet and 10 gr. FFg

It took me awhile to sort of see the sights. These sights were made for young people with really good eyesight.

But it didn't blow up or break which is a plus.

It does shoot to the left a bit, but at the ranges it would be used that does not hurt anything. Considering where it came from to now it shoots pretty durn well.

It's been a hoot watching this project progress. Amazing what that "worthless piece of junk" is capable of considering it would have been discarded "unrepairable" by 99.999% of folks. That 3 gr Bullseye load looks like a winner.

I will load some more of the 3 gr. Bullseye load ..

I am surprised that the rough bore shoots as well as it does. And with a round ball or the 96 gr. Bear Creek bullet it's not stressing the old gun at all.

Yes, important to those who might NEED to make it

I bet the BP loads are fun to shoot! I hadn’t thought of using a 9mm bullet in the 38 S&W. And now that I get to thinking about it, I believe I have an older mold for the .38 acp and super that is a 358 mold that drops around 130 gr. I’ll have to dig that out and see what it drops out of the mold at. It might be big enough as cast to work in the slightly larger bore. It’s only a single cavity but I’m not shooting hundreds of 38 S&W’s out of my old lemon squeezer!

Thanks for the update in Lazarus, and I doubt anyone would mind if you bent that front sight a bit to get it to hit to POA!
