Tempted!! Ruger SS Flattop Blackhawk .45 Colt/.45 ACP 4 5/8"
I read on Gunblast all about these new Lipsey's special edition flattops and it's very overwhelmingly tempting to order one. My local dealer is checking inventory to see if he can get me one, no answer back yet. I know what everybody here will say, BUY IT!!
sounds very interesting to me
And I wouldn't mind having one myself.
.45Colt requires some restraint, can't put your normal Ruger loads in it.

I have one and like it very much.
Good fit and finish. Shoots well.

Yep I'd be tempted, but.... not being able to load the high end Ruger loads is a deal breaker for me. Dennis
Buy It!!
I seldom buy, and rarely trade guns. However I did buy the Lipsey's Ruger 45 flat top. It is wonderful. I put the black Vaquero grps on it and it's my new favorite. The old NMBH 6.5" is not gathering dust as the kids are taking advantage of it's sudden availability. ; )
I like the dual cylinder because sometimes women or kids end up shooting it more than I expected and I'm able to keep it fed at reasonable cost.

Barrel length...
I believe that the 5.5" barrel version is your only choice.

Barrel length...
No, it's listed in all three barrel lengths now. That does not mean they are available, just listed.

Wow, certainly a more mixed bag than I thought. I have no need for heavy loads that require the large frame and I shoot a lot of .45 acp, the the interchangability of ammo is desireable. I am concerned at the new/old XR3 grip frame though. I have normal hands but the knuckle of my middle finger rides on the back of the trigger guard and there is more room on the XR3RED frame. Anybody have a problem shooting it? I obviously haven't shot one of the new Vaq or BHs myself yet.
Barrel length...
All 3 now!?!? When I ordered mine, the 5.5" was the only option. At the time I would've preferred the shorter one.
I really like mine & think it is about the best all around SA 45 on the market right now. The ACP cylinder is more fun than I expected & really makes for a nice companion to a 1911.

I love mine
So far I have put about 250 rounds through mine, it is from the first run, has the 5 1/2" barrel (my favorite), and is blued. I have put about 75 rounds through the ACP cylinder, and it shows great accuracy, shoots about 3" lower with 200 grain SWCs. The bulk of my shooting has been with my 285 grain SWCs from an RCBS 270-SAA mould. When I do my part, the accuracy is excellent, a .452 sized bullet slips through the cylinder throats with just a minimal amount of pressure. It is already showing some battle scars from more than a few miles in the holster, it is the gun I grab when I head out the door. Did I mention how much I love this sixgun!
