Nice quilt! Did you do that?
Barrel marking question.
Not trying to throw shade but shouldn't it be marked 32WCF instead of 32-20? Wonder if it was rebarreled somewhere in it's long life.
Barrel marking question.
NO. S&W MARKED THEM .32-20
Barrel marking question.
Thanks John. You saved me from double checking my remembrance.

Surprised it's not a quilted onion sack.
Barrel marking question.
Back then most manufacturers didn't want someone else's brand on their firearm. So 32 Winchester Center Fire (WCF) would have been highly undesirable to the folks at S$W. Remington didn't mark their rifles as 22 WMR and Marlin didn't mark their rifles as 30 WCF or 25 WCF, etc.
My own.....
rather freckled pre-heat treatment era (1917?) example is stamped {.32 W.C.F. ctg.} bracketed in symbols that my keyboard cannot replicate. Somewhat like three sided asterisks of sorts.
MY SMALLBORE BOOK IS BEING EDITED AND ...
I PULLED UP PICTURES OF OLDER COLT AND SMITH DA .32s, BOTH ARE MARKED .32 WCF OR WINCHESTER. SO NOT A LOT OF CONSISTENCY
I look forward to seeing...
...that one in print JT! I am a big fan of .32s!
