My youngest son is in Alaska as a Airborne Arctic Warfare Long Range Recon Patrol Sgt.

After guarding the Tomb he is happy to be out of the east coast and back in the "real" ARMY and is loving his new job. He jumps almost weekly from helos, shoots cool guns and leads 7 blood thirsty young Americans in one of the most beautiful places in the world.

He was telling me about the math and physics involved in shooting in the Arctic and how to factor into the equation of range, wind, vertical rise or decline, temperature, altitude, barometric pressure and how much the earth moves under the bullet while it is in flight.

He shoots a m210 .300 WinMag with the new Mk248 Mod1 round which sends a 220gr very low drag bullet effectively to 1600m. The can reduces the muzzle flash by 80%, recoil by 60% and gives a 38dB noise reduction. The rifle, can and fancy 20x scope probably cost as much as my first house.

At a lasered 950 yards with a 435 foot decline at 13 degrees he hit 17 of 20 from field position, not bench rest. Note that it is so bright that he has a iris on the scope.

I can't figure how to post the picture but here is the link.

The twins all grown up and turned out OK in spite of me.

If someone can figure out how to post the pictures I'd be obliged.

OK. Using your pics as linked above in your post, here's how to make 'em appear on the forum directly.

Click on the link. https://ibb.co/5kPrNpv for example. One option is to right click the link and choose "Open image in new tab" or whatever your browser's equivalent is.

Now, right click the image and choose "Copy image address"

Next, open a new message, or reply to one, and choose "image" from the right side of the text box. This opens a popup that inquires as to the URL of the image. Paste the URL you just copied into that box and click "OK". Make sure that there's only ONE http:// etc in the dialog box before you click OK. You now have the code in the text editing box. You can click "Preview" to make sure it's coming out the way you like it before you go ahead and click "OK-Submit".

Just for grins I chose "Thumbnail Left" from the image dialog. The twins have definitely gone and grown up. Using "Thumbnail" gives a preview of the image and the option to click on it and enlarge the view if desired.

Awesome stuff! Lots to be proud of, for sure! Glad he’s back doing something more ‘enjoyable’. I can’t imagine the pride he had as a Tomb Guard, but doing more exciting Army stuff seems more, well, exciting! I’m sure you are very proud of them all! As well you should be. Thanks for raising such great ‘kids’!
