Shortages
The last great shortage found me a Powder Valley. Barbara & I were in Kansas to visit her brother. We drove by just to visit the place & pick up a few things they had in stock. This was a time when nearly all powder was on back order. These two trucks were being unloaded. Both were full of powder. I was told every jug of it would be used to fill back orders.
Shortages
Just imagine how many primers those trucks could haul. I suspect they'd sell all of those out in a few hours too!
Shortages
Yes sir, this one has been a dandy for sure.
Thankfully, I wasn't in need of anything when it started. Kind of like the Allstate commercial saying, we've seen some things. But this one? I have looked at this monitor and just shook my head at times. 8 pound jug's of powder selling for $1,500 and up, primers at $1,200 to $1,800 per case, etc. And people were buying them. Yesterday, I stumbled onto an all time high for a set of Dillon 9mm dies new in the box, only $499.00 and someone bought them. I use Gunbroker to see what things have been selling for. A few months back, you couldn't even find a LEE Precision black powder round ball mold for under $100. About the only good news is, I'm seeing a few things beginning to show back up on shelves and online. Better yet, it seems the majority of it at normal (or near normal) prices.
And lastly, ammunition and reloading shortages are like any other disaster. It brings out the worse, and the best in people.

Shortages
Scored a 1000 CCI No.31 7.62 Large rifle primers from midway last week for If I remember $79 plus 12 dollars hazmat. Still three times the cost from a year and a half ago. I checked an hour later and all were sold out. That was the first time I was successful with an Email alert.
I was at Friendship a few weeks ago and you could find about every Lee round ball mold for $30. Go figure.......
