"I'm sorry Dave, I'm afraid I can't do that."
One of the last blued Colt 1911a1s before they switched to parkerizing, I believe.

Thats pretty cool.....when I was younger I never liked the "old" 1911's but the older I get the more I like them.
Was in a gun shop a few years, sort of a turning point for me on this subject, they had a WWII new issue 1911A1, two mags and a box of cartridges that were issued to a navy pilot who kept all of it after the war. Everything was together along with a photo of the pilot in his cockpit on the carrier deck and a signed letter from him. Really cool package, wished I had the money to buy it.

41 Mags rule, Baers rock!
This one very nearly the same. My daughter & SIL
bought it at an auction from the family of the officer who carried it in the Philippines during WWII, 38th Infantry. Wounded and sent home. Commercial shoulder holster with his name; found an online history of his outfit with his name listed. IIRC, they had about 4,000 casualties in three months "mopping up".
Best I can tell, only thing non-original is one grip panel.

Had a 1911(not A1) from WW1, finally retired it to a real collector. Great history.
Oof!
Wow, that's a looker John. It brought me out of hibernation.
