Changing of the Guard

by Byron, Monday, December 17, 2018, 21:22 (2105 days ago)

Yesterday at Arlington.

Tomb of the Unknowns.

It was cold.

The young Infantryman coming on guard and receiving inspection of his M14 is our son.

Well done. A son to be proud of and a daughter to be equally proud of.

I have always wanted to witness the changing of the guard in person. Such precision and discipline. Well done indeed.

my meeting was cancelled because of Mr. Bush's funeral. One of my desires was to go to the tomb. I could have yelled. "Hey Byron's kid" I'll bet he wouldn't have flinched? Naw I wouldn't do him that way. It would have been neat though to see him in action.

I wonder why their M14's have a straight grip? Was it to transition easier from the Springfield?
