Was just in the LGS and they had a field grade 83 in 454 with the box and a Leupold scope for $1400. Was half tempted to pick it up for an investment, but am not all that up on their current values.

I WOULD NOT SELL MY FIELD GRADE,LEUPOLD SCOPED

But do you believe in ever selling fine firearms? I did purchase a 1980 vintage Blackhawk in 357 from them this morning for $200 + tax. Put 5 Rds through it as soon as I got home with some 38 Spl reloads and it did not miss, even the 2" diameter swinging steel at 25 yards.

That is cheap.

Where do you get deals like that?

Freedom Arms, even field grade, for $1400 is a good deal, and a 357 Blackhawk for $200 that functions is a great deal, most go for double that price or more.

Where do you get deals like that?

You have to live in an area with high unemployment and very low average wages. Just not very many people around here can even afford the used Blackhawk at that price.

Interesting, I looked around online and found quite a few premier grades in various configurations, listed for between $1800 and $3500. Could not find any place that would show me what they actually sold for though, and did not find much about field grade guns at all.

I remember it well...

Such is life in the "North Country." Change comes at a snails pace there. Sounds like things haven't changed all that much in the 40 Years or so since I lived there.

It is not known as 'the land of broken dreams' for nothing. Hope the world is treating you very well.

I'll be in Minnesota for a week in August and was hoping to come down through the UP and stop and say hello, but plans have changed, and that will have to be another trip. I assume I'll see you all this winter. Give my best to everyone.

Would be great to see you up this way! Probably will not see you down there this winter, we are planning to head west for a change this time.

Sounds like very worthy reasons to part with some hardware. Hopefully your descendants will appreciate your gifts at least half as much as I treasure what my ancestors passed down to me.
