FFL question
My brother in law recently passed away. His store, effectively HziM, has an FFL. The store closed with his passing. From what I can tell, the license expires next January. Any ideas on what we should do? Internet hasn’t turned up anything.
i would call your local ATF office and ask them...
that gets them involved and knowing that you want to do things on the up and up. They should end up helping you tremendously and help avoid major headaches down the road.

Good idea - there is one closer than I realized.

Dittos... I've heard of 2 instances where the ATF
regulators (as opposed to "enforcers") actually prevented involved persons from serious violations and resulting penalties. In one case the ATF inspector actually found a buyer for the guy's shop!

They will work with you (or the executor) to close the FFL. They will explain transfers of any existing firearms off his Bound Book and will then collect his records, either in person or by mail. Generally nice folks in my experience.
