And buying a bunch of other gear, per the Commandant. Every Marine in rifle squads will have the M27, an HK416 variant already in some use by the USMC.

USMC replacing most of its M4s with M27

They've come a long way from th days when I carried an M-1, then an M-14.

am still waiting for the Army caliber change announcement.

Army Times said it was probably coming this year. As for the launcher? Same? New weapon? And it would not be a simultaneous thing, so, Marines supporting two platforms, Army busy fielding perhaps another individual soldier weapon, and etc.

They all certainly will want to get while getting is good with current administration, and probably a goodly pressure to act, and soon.

The Army was going to buy an interim 7.62 rifle..,

And then shelved the idea last fall. SOCOM was doing a study of various 6.5 rounds; we'll see if anything comes of that. To say that Army procurement has issues is putting it very charitably. The Marines have done a much better job of identifying better gear and pulling the trigger on buying it in a timely fashion; the magazine fiasco of the past few years illustrates that point better than anything.

The USMC not much better

it was only 4yrs ago or whatever, that they finally announced with great hooplah and argument, the adoption.of the M4 and how fit soldiers better while others bemoaned loss of power, and then everybody got one.

Now, a change, while money is flowing freely, and cannot blame them. Hope the other services do not dither until too late, and what of ammo for the new Marine gun if everybody else's caliber changes? Congress will, by golly, make sure everyone on the same page in that regard.

not that anyone will read this, at all.
