Had to put my friend down today.
RIP Buddy, I guess 12 years was a good run. I swear there ain't much harder things in life to do.
That is tough to do... Hate it.

I agree. Had to put mine down at 14. Really hard to do

There's not. I'm very sorry.

Our German Shorthair is developing difficulties....
....her rear hips are bothering her, and it is hard to keep weight on her. She was a rescue dog, but our vet says the shelter underestimated her age by a fair amount. I see her slowing down considerably from when we got her four years ago. The more she slows down, the more I fuss over her.
Is it just me, or do our aging dogs often exhibit the most enjoyment in life towards the end? Barring dogs with severe health issues, of course.

It's getting close to a year since I had to do the same with my Border Collie. 10 years wasn't long enough and loosing her was the hardest thing I've been through. I'm not one to cry much but I could just be walking through a Tractor Supply, see a picture of a Border Collie on a dog food bad and I'd loose it...it's getting better but it isn't gone. I always said when she died I would die with her. I really didn't realize how true that was in a way. I can sure sympathize and I'm truly sorry for your loss.
