Colt King Cobra for a grand?
Seems crazy high , to me, for such a lackluster Colt... But, some folks seem to think this is a wonderful gun... I suspect that many of these also ran Colts are spiking in a artificially high price zone do to the irrational exuberance as far as Python pricing is currently going through.

Colt King Cobra for a grand?
"Irrational exuberance " would indeed be a proper term.
Colt King Cobra for a grand?
Don't know how to correct the incorrect spelling of exuberance. To Hell with it.
Colt King Cobra for a grand?
Same gun with H&R on it would be a $250 firearm. Can't underestimate the allure of the Colt name on even an indifferent product.
fixed it... Edit feature.
. What I thought too. Seeing some of the deals on New Service revolvers, lately..

Colt King Cobra for a grand?
My former Chief has had a 4" King Cobra for years and I've shot it quite a bit, mostly DA. I don't believe anybody's ever been inside it. It is plenty accurate and has a surprisingly light and smooth action, far better than your typical MKIII or MKV Colt. I've only shot a couple pf Pythons and a half dozen Diamondbacks; and I don't recall a ton of difference between them and that particular KC.
I wouldn't give a grand for one, but I wouldn't give a grand to watch a pissant judo-throw an elefunt ;)
The exuberance might have something to do with...
No key-holeo in the side of the gun.
I like Colts because they're different
But I only buy the ones I can afford, which are fewer and fewer...
Not worth it to me and it's not the $ itself...
it's the quality and aesthetics. Some of the Colts are ok...older ones are nice...but I just don't care for the company itself. That's my own opinion. I wouldn't buy a newer Colt but I do like the pre-war Colts. Lots of guns are worth 1k or more to me but not this one.
Pre War Colts...

I saw that as well. I probably wouldn't buy one for half that. You seem to hurt a few of the sensitive types feelings.
My favorite was "Rob, Have you ever shot a Colt before" :-D
Then, you should should know how smooth they are...

Lets have the truth Rob, have you or have you not fired the type gun in question?
No beating around the bush. Straight out truth now.
without getting into a Colt vs. S&W argument
The name "Colt" is still pretty much magic, and they aren't making any more. Consider that the price of a new 686 is what, nearly $800, even with lock, and those are still in production.
Are BEST Colts

King Cobras share nothing with Pythons...
except they are both Colts. However, even though Pythons are nice...they aren't worth the going prices to me at least. Would far rather shoot a pre-war S&W and have $ leftover in most cases.
Yea man...thats cool but your New Service Target is hot. NT

I have a .22 Diamondback, a Trooper and an OP, both .38s, and a couple of Detective Specials. All from the 1960s. Colt was still making top quality guns back then. Then the older workers retired and the union took over the workforce. The corporate bean counters took over management and Colt's quality went to pot. Same thing happened at S&W a little while later.

You should reply, "no but I have read about them on that internet many times."
in .357 mag...
I would just as soon have a 686 for shooting. Or a 19 or 66 if there is more carrying than shooting.
King Cobra for $500?
Depending on the condition of the gun in question, that might be a pretty good deal. I'm guessing it's lower than normal price on a used 686. No matter the other characteristics, Colt DA revolvers generally shoot very well.
I might not buy it either, but that's more a matter of my limited interest in .357 mag. I might be more interested in a 2.5" M19 or 4" or 6" M586.
The trigger reset is too long...
