Match Champions, First a GP 100, then an SP 101 so can I
Expect an 8 shot 6.5" Redhawk Match champion tapered barrel, cut for moon clips, somewhere in my future?
What match do you shoot an SP101 in? Simple...
...the same one you shoot a GP100 in. The... um.... er.... uh...
Match Champion; poor choice in a name for the best .357
Ruger has ever produced. Smooth and pack-able, tapered in all the right places... The only thing Ruger could do to improve it would be to add a 7 shot cylinder and call it a Mountain Revolver The GP100 version, that is. Still trying to figure out the differences on the standard 4.2" SP101 and the new, improved " Match Champion" SP...
Gun companies seem to really be struggling to coin new names for new Products...
Bisley Super Blackhawk Hunter, for instance... The "Toklat" was a great name! A big game hunting and defense pistol with a descriptive name from an iconic patch of Alaska.

Ruger should buck the Mountain trend and call this revolver the Flatlander. Toklat is a great name and it's one of the Athabascan languages word for grizzly bear.
And I sure wish those gals that got mauled and killed
had had a Toklat on em...
BTW, I consulted with a City raised Inupiat friend... He gave me Ugugak as the name Grizzly Bear... But Toklat in Athabaskan, has such a better sound...
I was looking for a good name for the Sourdough Pancake at the time...

The only Athabascan word I know is Sukakpak.
What gun would deserve that name Ray?
Sukakpak
Like the joke that Vaquero meant "low and left" , Sukakpak, it means "uncomfortable to carry". ;)
The only Athabascan word I know is Sukakpak.
I don't know but that sounds more like an Eskimo word than an Indian one.

Hmm, that might be Rob. I know Toklat is a word for grizzly because I heard it at UAF in my Alaska Native Languages class. Mom has been gone for 9 years or I'd ask her.
akluk. That's the Inupiaq Eskimo word for grizzly bear.
I asked a friend and he knew.
Thought The Security Six Was The Best. (NT)
X
Thge Match Champion feels like the Sec. 6 but is stronger
than The Security Six. I was searching for a 4" SS Security Six until I handled and shot a Match Champion...If you have not I encourage you to do so...

When they come out with your seven shot version of the Mountain Revolver they'll get my money....IF it has adjustable sight without the fiber optic front.
I only know what I've read.
It's suppose to mean "ugly face". The marble mountain on the the haul road is named that.
