Steyr Scout - Anyone here actually have one?
Any comments/opinions?
Don't NEED one, can afford it, might never actually use it because I like the old fashioned levers and single shots.

I did until about a year and change ago
It was very accurate. Shot Federal XM80 ball at 1" at 100 yards consistently. It was very light, handled well, easy to shoot. Traded it to a buddy who really wanted it and has since passed on. Family sold it to someone before I could buy it back. It is one of the few guns I regret getting rid of.

I had one up until a few years ago. I liked it. It was accurate. Divorce is an expensive proposition.I'm hoping to replace it in the near future.
The expert here is uncowboy & if memory serves he has one

two. I love them and highly recommend them. J.Michael
Do not forget, Col. Cooper designed and loved a Win'94
in Scout configuration. He told me personally " in some ways it is better than ALL the BOLT Scout rifles."
I've seriously considered one. Still am. NT

Oh yes, my wonderful friend...
Firstly, it's great to see you post here! It's been a while!!!!
Secondly, I totally agree with your comment. Here's mine:
It's the Trapper model with the 16" bbl. Picked it up at a Gunshow a while back already set up as is. It's a great little handy rifle!! I have to say that the Colonel was right!!
Matt
That is one sweet rifle!
That would do juuuuust about everything I need from a rifle:)
My "heaviest" supply of ammo is in .30-30, specifically...
...for that purpose. Well, next to .22 LR, that is.
Same here. But....
I bought one anyway. I love single shots and old hunting rifles, but my eyes are starting to betray me and I don't know how much longer I can hunt with them (or shoot them at all).
Of course I have a pile if scoped rifles and didnt really need the Scout but we can't let logic enter the equation.
I used gun logic. I sold one "wanted one for a long time" rifle so I could only replace it with something else from that list.
One "feature" I didn't care for though...
... The need for an adapter to use a ten round magazine seemed unnecessary to me. It required replacing the action screws with ones the adapter could be attached to, rather than just being able to switch between fie rounders and the ten rounders.
One "feature" I didn't care for though...
I put the 10 rd adapter on so I always have a full box of ammo on board.
