Feeding a Beretta Storm Carbine 40 S&W
Thanks to my no. 1 son, I have his Carbine on "permanent loan." Any if you have any experience with them? I am wondering what to feed it.
Disclaimer: I might just be able to pick a Storm...
out of a crowd....maybe.
That said, I don't see a reason a fella couldn't feed it just about anything of the 40 persuasion. Maybe it will balk on a bullet shape/weight but I'd think Beretta would have designed it to feed most/all contemporary ammunition.
I'd load 'er up and go make noise and see what it doesn't like. But that's me.
I have two 40 pistols so I have a variety of ammo
I was wondering about Bullet weights that work. Manual says don't feed a heavy diet of +p. I was also wondering if I am better off sticking with full metal jacket or hp. One thing I like about 40 is the flat meplat on fmj. I figure that performs better than round nose. The storm does have a nice feel to it. Picked up a Hi Point Carbine a. Purple of times - felt like a chunk of lead.

Velocity over a 4" pistol (100 fps or less). I think you get more with 9 mm. I KNOW you get more with 357. Quite impressive!

My SUB 2000 in .40 usually eats a Lee tumble lubed 170 gr SWC over 5.0 of red dot. I did some experimentation several years back with 2400 and Lil Gun. I was able to bump up the velocity quite a bit but I'm not sure how good of an idea it is in a mostly polymer blowback rifle!

Here's a thread where I did some chrono testing. I'm going to load some XTP's over 2400 and give it another try to see if the speed matches up
