I have gone as high as 6.0 gr with the RCBS, I got that load from some of taffins old writings and I think Skeeter used it before that. It is a hot load and I wouldn't use it in anything but the Ruger or the bigger Smiths. IIRC I was getting 1350-1400 with it in the 6.5 but had better accuracy at those velocities with a slower powder.
I think I maxed out at 5.0 with the 311008. Those loads are much higher than you will find in any manual, but they are maxed out at 18,000 CUP in deference to the H&R .32 magnums.
