Deep Concealment

Need an auto, 380 or possibly a 9. Small & lite. Maybe hip pocket or ankle holster. Again small & lite. Who's using what?

XDs9 compact is good. Mine rides well on the belt or under the belt. Would probably fit in the back pocket, just never tried. But, its not as small as a bunch of 380's out there.

For me, I carry either a Ruger LCP Pro 380 or a Kahr CM9 9mm. Either one conceals in my pants pocket and both are completely reliable. ...

a Ruger LCP is the minimum for me. with great ammo available

now, it is a good choice. scale it up a bit the LC9, Shield and XDs are also good choices...Say the word, I will give you a pocket holster.

Rob's pocket holster is very good...

thin and smooth edges, which really matters in a pocket holster. I've been using one for years. Have 3 in fact.

I pocket carry my 9mm shield. It is a bit big for jeans but works great in cargo shorts. For something smaller, I have heard good about the .380 Rugers.

Hard to beat an LCP - small & light, you forget it is there

by stonewalrus, Friday, September 02, 2016, 05:16 (3007 days ago) @ Creeker

I would go with the upgraded version with real sights or add a laser.

I have the laser version. NT

I have never understood carrying a derringer with 380s

by stonewalrus, Friday, September 02, 2016, 06:04 (3007 days ago) @ Creeker

Available. Why carry a two shot single action derringer when you can carry 7 rounds of 380? I don't care what caliber, I would rather have 7 rounds of 380 than 2 rounds in a derringer.

Ahmen! Preach it brother! I couldn't agree more.

my humble but growing bond collection taking umbrage

My son has one and I have met both Bond Brothers

by stonewalrus, Saturday, September 03, 2016, 11:23 (3006 days ago) @ Ray L

Really nice guys. My brother in law went to school with them. There is definitely a cool factor to them and they are built like a tank. Just wouldn't want to depend on them in a deadly encounter (unless it was snakes with the 410). A friend of my wife's family in the Texas panhandle bought the Snake Slayer for when he mows his lawn. He got tired of carrying a shotgun on his lawnmower for rattlesnakes. My son's 357 version weighs as much as a 38 snub - rather carry the snubbie.

I can see one in 45/410 because I've always got 45 Colt reloads on hand anyway.

i bought him the 45/410 barrels. What surprised me

by stonewalrus, Saturday, September 03, 2016, 16:53 (3005 days ago) @ Sarge

Was the 45 rounds were more pleasant to shoot than the 410. 410 rounds stung my hand. 45 rounds were fun to shoot (cowboy load levels).

;-) Carry what you like... I like more shots for the same

I've got an old LCP that is stone reliable and accurate enough for 7 yard head shots on a B21 and 8 ring hits to about 50. Yes the trigger is long and a tad heavy, but I like that for pocket carry.

I carry FMJ in mine with a preference for Winchester flat point.

For true deep concealment the LCP is one of the best out there. Light, thin and fairly accurate. The price has come down on them recently as well. I would probably look at the newer updated version with the better sights. The sights on the original are very low profile and not easy to see in low light.

LCP here as well in Simply Rugged's pocket holster - NT

Lynn, the LCP is really underrated...

by matt/pa @, Friday, September 02, 2016, 09:28 (3007 days ago) @ Creeker

I used it, loaded with Double Tap ammo, at about 7-10 yards in front of an old 70's vintage F-150 during a test while at Gunsite last year. 4 rounds. Went through the windshield, through the throat of the target mannequin, through the back seat back, through the back windshield and we found the perfectly expanded slugs near the tailgate.

This really renewed my belief in the LCP and the 380 round. Absolutely nothing wrong with it, and it is very easy to conceal, especially with one of Rob's great pocket holsters.

Just my $0.02

Matt

Agree - my 380 LCP alternates with a scandium J 357.

Either conceals well in a normal pocket.
