Recommended Gurkha books?

This is a gap in my library about a significant military force. What do you recommend for reading?

I can't remember a single title OR author. At a time when I didn't feel I could spend much money on such, I didn't buy them but borrowed them.

Prithwi Narayan Shah, and that would be a good place to start your research. The Gurkhas first claim to fame, so to speak at the battle of Bruputore, somewhere's around 1826 or so, claim to fame that is, as far as western civilization is concerned. Ord Wingate recruited them into the famous Chindits in '43-'44(in case you didn't know, the Chindits are credited with being the first special forces). My Pop had some dealings with a few Gurkhas in Burma, in '44. But that's another story. Your local public library is a good place to start. Am I the only one who uses the public library anymore?

My little local library has gotten books and publications for me from all over North America, and Mexico. Many of them from participating University libraries. Many are for free, often there's a small fee. The most I ever paid was ten bucks, but there was only one copy that they found, and it was in a library in Montreal.

The free public library is one of this country's best institutions.

Read it first. The movie is a film adaptation of a Rudyard KIpling book of the same name.Book and film are both great.

Next year. I intended to come this year and life intervened. Nothing to do with Kipling but I just scored a Warren Leather Goods 1911 GI flap holster in great well cared for condition. WWII was the last time Uncle Sugar bought from that manufacturer. The GI Milspec seems to like it. Back to Kipling. All Kipling is good. The one in question is superb.
